shanghai has the most outrageous architecture.

chauss random shanghai observations:

1. everything is open on sundays. it is just another day.
2. taxi drivers keep crickets as pets in small glass jars.
3. no english anywhere. none.
4. shanghai loves blondes.
5. foreign designer goods are more $$$ than in US or Europe.
6. cucumber juice. perfect. plain. alkalize and energize.
7. no one in shanghai wears sunglasses. (at least not in january).
8. IFC mall. unbelievable. outrageous. makes bal harbour look like crap. celine, prada, miu miu, balmain, valentino, louis vuitton, cartier, tiffany and all the usual suspects under one roof.
disney world of shopping (but extra $$$ bc of high import taxes).
9. twitter and blogspot are blocked. this is communist china.
10. no clothes dryers. tons of clothes, blankets and sheets are hanging outside everywhere (even in the expensive real estate sections).

i miss you like crazy, but i told you that while you were still on the third.

i respect your decision to leave this dimension, but i am still going to miss our weekly monday morning chats about true blood, dark chocolate, the astral plane, spirit guides, hair treatments, hot shoes and our respective lovers and friends.

i remember you once told me you "googled" me with kristin, your spirtual teacher.
kristin told you that i was here to support you in your endeavors and you were here to support me in mine in this lifetime: the true definition of real friendship.

and you were my friend and will always be my friend.
in our final conversation last week before you left this earth, i said to you, "i guess i will hear from you on the other side" and you enthusiastically said, "you know it."

when you are ready to chat again, i will be here bc i still have a lot of stuff to do on this dimension.

for my long term readers, you know i am a major true blood hbo fan.

my cell phone rings the true blood theme song.
maybe it's my fascination with immortality or the show's drama, but whatever,
i love true blood hbo. when i saw jane's post on sea of shoes on tarte for true blood, i went over to sephora to pick up the lip stain appropriately called "glamour me".
it is a really versatile red stain.
jane looks great with true blood lip stain here
and she has fair skin.
i have it on and have medium olive skin.
great for the person who wants to look made up

hey all,
yeah, we all know it's a zillion degrees avec beaucoup de humidity down here in the 'nana. (nyc too)

anyway, this pix was taken in barneys LA a couple of weeks ago.
mimosa shorts, marc jacob boots and thomas wylde first season leather jacket avec tetes de mort. (hidden from view)
i am standing near the nonfunctional frederic malle parfum telephone-esque booths.

in barneys LA , they are display units.
occasionally, the ambitious SA will spray parfum inside and tell you to smell.

in the frederic malle stores in paris, a fine mist is electronically shot inside the sealed booth when you want to smell a sample and then you open it up to get a whiff, like someone who just walked past you with the scent.

i guess some things get lost in translation on the way to to the U.S.

nothing too frilly or poofy.
i finally found this one at a little local shop called L boutique.
it comes with its own matching ivory slip so i didnt have to buy an additional piece to stick under the dress since a lot of the lace dresses are sheer.
i paired the lace dresss with my chloe sevigny for opening ceremony black platform wedges and vintage navy chanel 2.55
avec celine blue sunglasses.

just got this chanel vintage black velvet sac a dos from the early 90's lined in black leather.
it is not easy to photograph black velvet. the chanel is in very good condition with large embossed CCs on the bottom. the gold chains look great
with the black velvet.

i have seen this chanel model in black leather, but never in black velvet.
a certain je ne c'est quoi...

anyway, i have on my cort leather japan bracelet.
it is naked leather that will darken with time and wear.
the snap has been painted red to signify japan.
all the profits go the the red cross for japan.
eric heins has already raised $30,000 for japan relief from the sale of these bracelets.
i love the philosophy behind these bracelets:

bonjour all,
here is my hermes l'exposition 1997 kelly bag from japan.
hermes did an exposition back in 1997 in various parts of japan.
this hermes clear kelly bag was given out to lucky guests.
the french translates to "a trip to wonderland".
i just got it sent from japan last week.
radiactive peut etre? hmmmm...

this kelly is a totally fun piece so i added
a chauss black handle so i can wear it shoulder bag or messenger bag style.
i made my handle from a pair of black shredded hose.
the perfect hermes piece for anyone untraditional and
it is actually functional as well, about a size 40-ish kelly.

i will be back to new posting in the near future.
thank you for all your thoughts and concern.

ok, the energy is finally shifting, we will feel it by the middle of next week. so, hang in there and do what you can to get through the crap. my favorite personal energy band aid fix is shopping...
this is my custom made guns and roses belt. (for obvious reasons)
i have a file with homeland security because of this belt.
stop here if you dont care...otherwise....

i wore this belt to MIA international and took it off when i went through security. i asked security if it was ok, response was , "sure, no problem."

flash forward five days later... LAX airport, took off my belt, put it in security bin... LAX security calls the LA police, i get detained for??? a belt that looks like a gun. btw, it has a flat back... anyway, i just want my belt back, i dont want it confiscated which is what they were sorta planning...
i manage to convince them to let me go back through security to check it.
i give it to a woman who knows me at the first class desk, and get this, instead of taking my money and fedexing to me, she offers to walk it on the plane for me...
she does. (such an angel) i have my belt. see pix.

about 4 weeks later, i get a letter from homeland security telling me they are not pressing charges. things that make you go hmmmmm.

if you need a quickie to calm jitters, read on:

easy 2 minute mini-meditation to calm nerves:
you all know now that the 7 major chakras have corresponding colors, right?
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple.

so, visualize drenching your entire body in each color one at a time. you can picture red and then become red. or, you can picture holding a crayon on your body and coloring in your entire outline.

repeat this with orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple.
just close your eyes and image each color drenching your entire being in sequence. this mini-meditation forces you to visualize color drenching and will automatically calm your nerves in a flash bc you are focusing on a completely different topic than the one you are nervous about.

me? when i am ready to flip out, i close my eyes and just say each color in sequence 3 or 4 times. my body automatically visualizes the color i have just thought about and relaxes.

and if you can't see colors with your eyes closed, don't worry, it will happen eventually with practice.
i promise.

i am standing in front of the establishment (note the bars on the windows)and was conversing with a giant chicken in a fedora.
welcome to miami.

the night i went to taquerias, i was in good company.
tiny place had 4 miami rescue guys in uniform and
a couple of under cover cops at another table.
btw, the food is good.

i have on my ysl vintage heart and serpent t shirt form the 70s with

major overload of color for my own psyche.
this outfit lasted only a couple of hours before i felt the need for black.
i don't know why i don't feel comfortable with major color and prints,

i met dale jefferies thru the internet fashion channels of blogging and tweeting.

i realized early on that this guy was truly an old soul and
has a gifted eye for talent in the fashion world.
so, without further adieu,
get to know dale jefferies thru my Q and A interview:

CKParis: when did you first realize you had an interest in fashion?
DJ: When I was seven or eight years old I collected bridal magazines obsessively. I made scrapbooks out of pictures of my favorite dresses and bouquets. I'm not sure what I loved so much about wedding gowns and table arrangements as an eight-year-old, but I was dead serious about it.

CKParis: you know i have always thought of you as an "old soul",
is there any period of time that you are particularly obsessed ?
DJ: When I was a little older I loved hippies, The Beatles, and the 1960s. I mean, this spanned over at least four years... I had a Pink Floyd poster, books about Lennon and the Maharishi and dropping acid, incense and vinyl records... My aunt gave me The White Album on vinyl and I played it in my room all the time. I think I was a little crazy, it sounds embarrassing to say now! I was so infatuated with it though. So much happened to America during those ten years; it must have been a fascinating time to live in.

CKParis: what person who lived in the past would you have liked to have had dinner?
DJ: Yves Saint-Laurent. Hearing him speak about fashion would be life-changing, I am sure, as he almost singlehandedly invented designer ready-to-wear and modern fashion as we know it. I can't imagine what it would be like to even meet him, or chat with him. Dinner with Monsieur Saint-Laurent would be so amazing!

CKParis: what person who lives today would you like to have a coffee ?
DJ: Hmm, this is such a tough one ... It's hard to choose between Hedi Slimane and Kanye West. I don't necessarily love everything he has done, but I admire his bravery and outrageous sense of style. I do necessarily love everything Hedi has done, however, and he comes to mind first so I'll pick him.

CKParis: i am all for the peter pan syndrome, but what do you want to be
when you grow up?
DJ: You know, it's interesting you should ask what I want to be when I grow up because I'm not sure myself! Right now, I am studying graphic design at Robert Morris University in Chicago and a community college in Scottsdale, but I am thinking of changing my major to art history.
When I was fifteen I studied abroad in Japan and fell in love with it, so I have given a lot of thought to teaching English over there. My dream job is to work within the Vogue family, Vogue Hommes Japan, V.H.International, or Nippon Vogue would be just beyond my wildest fantasies. I admire them all so much. Whatever I end up doing, I want to be with talented people who care about fashion and making it relevant.

CKParis: favorite color?
DJ: In design and art I love deep, dark blues. But my favorite color to wear is "dust," it's that beautiful dingy-looking gray color Rick Owens does.
CKParis: yes, dna dust. a rick owens classic color.

hey all, how are you?
these pix are of the vintage 1920's art deco french purse i got in gavilane paris
in the marais.
the bag is made of suede and is an amazing distressed eggplant brown. it may have been originally dyed black and years of age and use have created this
distressed purple/brown color.
aden told me he replaced the stones in the clasp and added a brass chain.
the original suede strap is still in tact.

bonjour.
i went to visit Gavilane in the marais last month in paris.
Gavilane is a wickedly wonderful place to check out on your next sojourn to paris.
the proprietor, aden, was in the shop and helped me pick out a fabulous
tete de mort necklace/belt/whatever from his recent collection.
if you are fascinated by the gothic, mysterious, dark,
this is the place to shop.
the music playing in Gavilane went perfectly with the jewelry, designs and clothing.
d. noticed a CD cover with a guy that looked like a dead ringer for the guy in the store who was helping me.
aden confirmed that it was his pix on the CD cover and he was the one singing.

Q: bon jour aden, how long has gavilane been in the marais?
A: 12 years

Q: what was your inspiration for creating Gavilane?
A: We love creation, and we have been making custom jewellery for 22 years.

Q: what is your favorite medium to work with?
A: we don't follow trends and we keep classic inspiration through vanity and
decadent accessories.

Q: when is your studio CD coming out?

Q: what is your most cherished possession?
A: my cherished possession is to possess nothing.

hey kids,
this is the most unedited childlike side of my personality.
zillion dollar chauss smile.

all vlogs were taken with an iphone 4 and uploaded thru photobucket to blogspot.

this mini vlog was taken the first night i arrived in paris in front of my favorite choclate store window to gaze at in a mesmerized state.

you can see my literally jumping up and down bc:
1. i was in paris again finally!!!
2. it was about 30 degrees and i am a chick from constant nonstop tropical balmy weather
3. i am standing in front of freakin' chocolate waterfall, and this is the real deal
on the third dimension, no astral plane needed here
4. did i say, i am in paris!!!

p.s. i am so mesmerized by this window that i actually stared into it once long enough to see the chocolate store's owner descend down the staircase in her nightgown and robe to grab a piece of chocolate and scurry back upstairs.
true story.
really.

how many people stare into a chocolate store window on the rue st honore when it is closed at 10:00 pm?

hello boys and girls,
i am back from paris.
ahhhhhhhhhhh.

and yes, philippe, it did snow in paris!
the first snow of the year.
i did a mini vlog and will post it soon.

i am wearing my gavilane tete de mort necklace with brass chains,
the claps look like mini hand cuffs and the piece can be worn numerous ways
by changing the length and placement of the clasps.
the tete de mort has a crown above its head.
